Kass Reich is a Toronto-based multimedia artist working primarily with oil paint, chalk, and cold wax on wood panel. Through an intuitive, layered process, she explores the space between representation and abstraction using gestural mark-making, rich texture, and earthy colour palettes.

Reich's work is rooted in memory. Drawing from the people in her life, the places she has lived, and the natural world, she creates paintings that reveal only fragments of a scene.

Reich has always been drawn to under paintings. She is fascinated by the energy and ambiguity they holds—the way it reveals just enough for the viewer to recognize a form while inviting them to complete the image through their own perception. That same balance between recognition and ambiguity continues to guide her own work.
